The domtoren
The Domtoren is considered the symbol of Utrecht and, at 112.5 meters, is the highest church tower in the Netherlands. The tower was part of St Martin's Cathedral, also known as the Dom Church, and was built between 1321 and 1382 to a design by Jan van Henegouwen. The Dom Tower can only be visited with a guide during a guided tour. Climbing the Dom Tower is a sporting achievement and an absolute highlight of your visit to Utrecht. Together with a guide you climb all 465 steps of the highest church tower in the Netherlands. Along the way, the guide will tell you more about the history and construction of the Dom Tower at different levels. For example, about the impressive Michael's Chapel and the large bells in the Bell Attic. Once you reach the top you will be rewarded with a spectacular view over the city of Utrecht. A guided tour takes approximately one hour.
